0800 numbers are national, location-independent phone numbers that are always free to call. They are not linked to a city or region and are issued individually by PTS in the name of companies.
You can always call 0800 numbers for free — the costs are paid by the owner of the number.

PTS usually needs 2 to 3 weeks to process and approve your application. After that we need about 5 working days to activate the number block in the national telephone network.

Per country you can set where the calls come in and set a separate greeting, for example for your 0800 number in Germany and your 0800 number in the UK. To request a 0800 number, you must use it for business purposes. It is not possible to request a 0800 number for personal use, because these numbers are intended to allow customers to contact companies for free.
In the numbering plan there are short and long information numbers. A short number has 4 digits after the prefix, for example 0800-4030, and a long number 7 digits, such as 0800-4000400. Short numbers are limited in availability. According to PTS, they may only be issued to organizations that expect more than 2,000 minutes per month. They are therefore mainly used for radio, TV and emergency services. If you want to request a short number, please contact us.
